Purpose and Vision

Purpose Statement: The Spread ministry exists to apply the plan of ministry of Isaac’s Keep to spread the worship of God through the gospel of God. To accomplish this spreading we seek to educate, enable, encourage, and manifest the gospel.

Vision: The Isaac’s Keep vision for spreading is a long-term strategy focused on
1. Reaching Unconverted Souls
2. Providing Opportunities to members and other believers to obey the Great Commission and worship God
3. Creating a missional perspective among the members of Isaac’s Kee

Purposes of Ministry Defined:
1. Educate the laity on what spreading is and how God tells us to do it.

  • Cell groups/Discipleship style courses on evangelism/missions.
  • Scheduled sermons from pastor or speaker (quarterly) targeted on the importance and command to evangelize and do missions.
  • A “spreading” emphasis week or month. A highlighted time within the church to be more purposeful and focused toward evangelism/mission awareness.

2. Enable spreading by supporting, scheduling, organizing, and coordinating missions opportunities (local, national, international) that incorporate belivers into the world of missions.

  • Create a yearly “Spread Agenda”

3. Encourage laity involvement by mobilizing ministry leadership to be purposeful in continually defining, reminding, announcing and participating in spreading endeavors.

  • Leadership (elders, leaders, and members) must be visible and unified around the purpose of spreading. The leadership must be actively involved in exemplifying missions/evangelism in their personal lives. For spreading to be a priority at IK it has to be a priority within the ministry leadership, which includes frequent involvement, encouragement, and reminding others of this priority. Spreading must also be a comprehensive emphasis that intersects the more comprehensive Plan of Ministry.
  • The world of missions is vast and diverse and the church must set purposes for spreading and use those purposes as guidelines for projects and support. Therefore, all spreading projects or events should be proposed before the Spread team for review and acceptance as meeting the spreading purposes and objectives for Isaac’s Keep. The spread team will submit their recommendations to the body of elders.
  • The terms “missions” and “evangelism” are critical to understanding the emphasis of spreading, and must be recaptured and biblically defined by the church. We must seek to stay true to the biblical meanings to avoid abusing their true purposes. The definitions of “evangelism and “missions” as set by the elders:
  1. Evangelism is an act of worship and the distinct privilege and command of joyfully communicating the glory of God in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and depending on the sovereign God to effectually call His own unto Himself and His church, which brings ultimate glory to Himself. Simple definition of evangelism: spreading the glory of His grace.
  2. Missions is simply the act of evangelism directed specifically and purposefully to those who do not have a clear and/or consistent gospel witness. Simple definition of missions: spreading the glory of His grace to all peoples.

4. Manifest the kingdom God in every aspect of our lives, individually and corporately.
