We use the book Big Truths for Little Kids with our daughters for catechism. It is very kid-friendly, though we will have to tweak it a bit when we get to baptism : ) Here it is at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Big-Truths-Little-Kids-Teaching/dp/1581341067/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259549158&sr=1-3

For kids who are slightly older, Teaching Hearts Training Minds is a great book that goes through the Shorter Catechism, focusing on one question per week and including daily devotions centered on that question: http://www.amazon.com/Training-Hearts-Teaching-Minds-Devotions/dp/0875523927/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259549580&sr=1-1

Here is a great easy link for parents. It has the shorter Catechism questions with scripture references. The scripture text is on the page as well, which though is sounds silly, helps immensely when children are antsy or just need to keep the speed up so as not to lose their focus. Sometimes I feel like I can't compete with the pace of our culture in keeping their attention!

thanks joy, the book, "This Momentary Marriage" is wonderful, and I haven't even read the whole thing from cover to cover. I have two copies if anyone else is interested in reading. John Piper undresses the sentimentality of marriage that our culture is fed, and instead gets to the wonderful core of the marriage covenant. The article on discipline of children is hard, especially when your in the everyday battle, but I agree, it's wise and needed.

beautifully said! the day you are describing was one of the times i will always remember because of the great joy that we all had while working together! i like the analogy because i will always continue to be fascinated by the workings the human body-no matter how many classes i attend.

Oprah needs our prayers, she has become the "goddess" of the pulp generation. Her philosophy has great influence with the "devil box" crowd.
Pray for God's mercy and grace in her life and let her hear from believers via email. God can use her in a mighty way.
